The last day of the Interstate part of the Australian National Championships in Canberra. Friday is the finals of the Teams Championships, the Interstate Pairs and the Victory Dinner.
The Open Final, NSW (MICHAEL COURTNEY & JAMES COUTTS, DAVID WILTSHIRE & BRUCE NEILL, NIGEL ROSENDORFF & PETER BUCHEN) against ACT (DAVID APPLETON & BRAD COLES, CHRISTY GEROMBOUX & SEBASTIAN YUEN, PETER REYNOLDS & GEORGE KOZAKOS). NSW led throughout and won 125.56 to 74. Results here.
The Womens Final, WA (KIMBERLEY ZHAO & DIANNE DWYER, CASSIE MORIN & CYNTHIA BELONOGOFF, JANE REYNOLDS & VIV WOOD) against NSW (NAZIFE BASHAR & KINGA MOSES, SHARON MAYO & SALLY CLARKE, CATHRYN HERDEN & JUDY MOTT). A very close match that came down to the last board. WA won 105.66 to 94. Results here.
The Seniors Final, SA (PHIL GALLASCH & KEVIN LANGE, CHRIS LORIMER & DAVID ANDERSON, RUSSEL HARMS & ZOLI NAGY) against ACT (ROB HURST & DESMOND MANDERSON, MICHAEL SMART & DAVID HUDSON, RICHARD BRIGHTLING & CHRISTOPHER QUAIL). SA won every set to win 143 to 72.38. Results here.
The Youth Final, NSW (NATALIE NEWMAN & IDA ANDERSEN, DAVID ZHENG & SHANNON OO, ADRIAN LE & AADHI HARIHARAN) against ACT (JESSICA HE & BYRON FRENCH, JADE WILKINSON & ALEXIS WILSMORE, DIYA SHAH & DEV SHAH). NSW won 152.21 to 73. Results here.
52 pairs played in the two session Interstate Pairs. This was a matchpoint scored event with 7 matches of 8 boards, converted to VPs with a Swiss draw.
