Membership

Types of membership

Regular players at the TBA are expected to become members. Two levels of membership are available. Home club members are registered with under the ABF Masterpoints Scheme with the TBA as their home club. Players who are home members of other ABF affiliated clubs can become Away members of the TBA.

TBA memberships operate on a calendar year basis.

The TBA awards Life membership to members in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Association and the game of bridge.

New Memberships

To become a member of the TBA, please complete a membership application form and return it to a Director at the club with payment of the membership fee. The membership fee for home members is $75 per annum, and $30 for away members. Membership fees are reduced for new members joining during the year.

Once a membership application is approved, our Membership Officer will contact the new member with a Welcome pack.

Membership Renewals

Annual membership fees are due on 1 January each year. The TBA sends out a renewal notice by email in early December. Payments can be made by:

  • MyABF Bridge Credits - either initiated by the member or via My ABF 'auto-pay' (see below).
  • Credit Card - talk to a Director at the club.
  • Bank Transfer - TBA bank account details are available of the Contact page. Please ensure that you include "SUBS" and an ABF number to allow identification.

Members who have not paid by 1 January will receive a reminder email, which will specify a required payment date. If payment is not received by that date the person's membership will lapsed. Home club members who do not renew will be inactivated in the ABF Masterpoint Centre at the end of March.

How you can help

Managing the annual renewal process involves a lot of effort by TBA volunteers and Directors. The process often drags on into March which increases the effort. Members can help by:

  1. Paying their membership fee as early as possible, preferably by the 1 January due date.
  2. Pay by MyABF Bridge Credits if possible. This method reduces the effort involved and avoids possible issues with recording payments.
  3. Clearly identify yourself if paying by Bank Transfer.
MyABF Auto Pay

The TBA usesw the 'Auto Pay' feature provided by My ABF. This feature allows membership fees to be automatically debited from the members My ABF Bridge Credit account on a specified date (if the fees have not been paid by that date). Members can easily opt out of Auto Pay or can manually initiate a Bridge Credit payment.

Renewal notices detail the date on which the auto pay will be attempted with links and instruction on how to opt out or initiate a manual payment.
